This is my favorite time of year. The music, the lights, the weather. My mom has always decorated my house so beautifully, and I wish I could be there to curl up on the couch and drink hot cocoa. There’s something so comforting about walking into a nice warm home after being out in the cold. It feels so warm and cozy. That’s my favorite part of this season.
On Thursday, we celebrated another Thanksgiving. Some of us probably ate far too much and spent much needed time with those we love. Some of us might have spent it at work, preparing for Black Friday crowds. Some of us may have spent it alone, and some of us may not have celebrated at all. But, regardless, I hope the spirit of gratitude was in our hearts. That’s what the holiday is all about, right?
I’m a firm believer that we all have something to be grateful for, no matter how small. There is always something good, even if it seems like everything is going wrong. I’ve learned that sometimes those who have the least are the most grateful for what they have.
I am grateful for so many things.
Family and friends.
Food on the table.
A place to call home.
But, there are some who don’t have those blessings, at least for the time being. One thing, though, that we all have, is the example of others around us. There is always something to learn from those around us. That is what I am most grateful for this year. I am grateful for the people who can change our lives and influence us for good. I am grateful for those from the past, and those in the present, who teach us valuable lessons about love, life, and loss. If we look, there are lessons all around us.
May we all notice the greatness around us.
May we all be grateful for the small things.
Happy Holidays. Let us make the best of what’s left of this year.
