This past weekend, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held its bi-annual General Conference. Broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah, millions of members of the Church watch from their homes and church buildings in many different languages.

Just like every year, there are many wonderful quotes that I would love to frame and put on my wall. One of my favorites, which is actually a quote from 1989, was shared again during a talk on our divine pedigree. The quote says, “The pedigree of your spirit can be written on a single line. You are a child of God.”

Think of how blessed we are in knowing that each and every one of us is a child of God. And, because of that, we have the ability and opportunity to become like He is. More than anything, He wants us to return to Him and become like Him. No matter what may happen on this earth, there is always someone cheering us on from the other side. We are His children and He wants us to succeed.

In my ward here in Rexburg, I work with the Primary children. I’m usually with the kids that are 18 months to 3 years old. The theme this year for their lessons is “I Am a Child of God.” I love this. Even from a young age, we are taught that we are children of God. It is the basis for all other truths that we learn as we grow up.

Even still, as we grow up, we sometimes forget about this important truth. Hard times and we forget that we are literal children of God. We can do hard things. We are strong enough to take anything the world sends our way.

I am beyond grateful for the knowledge that we are His children. We will always be His children. He loves us, and we love Him. We are blessed every day by this knowledge.

I am a child of God. You are a child of God. We are ALL children of a loving Heavenly Father.

Don’t ever forget it.
