December is coming to a close and taking 2018 along with it. I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by. As we watch the end of 2018 come closer, we have the opportunity to finish up the #lighttheworld campaign by lighting our family. This week’s quote is “As we reach out to give as Jesus gave, we ultimately fan the flame of our own faith. This week, reflect on ways following Jesus Christ has brightened your life and discover a few more ways to light your faith.”
We’ve spent three weeks serving those around us in different capacities. Through all of that service, we’ve been able to strengthen others and ultimately, ourselves. We have felt the love of the Lord in our lives as we reach out to those around us. Now, it’s a time to turn inward and look at ourselves. What can we do to strengthen our faith and build our testimonies?
As always, mormon.org/christmas lists some ideas such as attending a church service, memorizing a scripture, and unplugging from technology for a bit to ponder and reflect on our lives. There are so many ways to turn inward and look at ourselves. It’s sometimes easier to see the needs around us than to see the needs within our own hearts. But sometimes we need a moment to strengthen ourselves. That’s part of life.
I am so grateful for Christmas. December is my favorite month. There is such a happiness and peace that surrounds my heart as I watch the snow fall, the Christmas lights glisten, and the Christmas tunes play. It’s not just the hot chocolate that can warm us up inside. The light of the Lord is all around us. We can feel that warmth as we reach out to those around us in loving service. It warms us as we focus for a moment on ourselves and what we can do to build our faith in Christ. He truly is the reason for the season. As we try to live a little more like Him, let us remember His example of service and love to everyone.
I hope your holidays have been wonderful. I’ll see you in the new year! Here we come, 2019!
