As the first week of the New Year flew by, I was thinking about a one-word theme that I’d love to focus on this year. After seeing so many awesome ideas from friends on social media, I ultimately decided on Organize.
I LOVE organization. I love reading about it, watching about it, hearing about it, theorizing about it. I don’t, however, love implementing it. Not that I don’t try. I just, tend to lose my steam (sounds a lot like most of my New Year’s Resolutions). I think my problem is that I try too hard to be organized in so many different ways. All at once, I want to clean the office and throw out old clothes and start using a daily planner. Then I get halfway through cleaning the office and give up on everything else on the list.
That being said, I very much want to be more organized in 2019. I want to clean the closets and the office. I want to organize the kitchen and the pantry. I want to start using a planner and not stop by the end of March (how many of us do this??). So, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
I bought myself a planner at Walmart a couple of days before 2018 ended. No matter how hard I try, I cannot convert to the electronic calendar. Maybe next year! I bought some cute pens and sharpies months ago, and I’ll finally put them to good use (I have a weakness for everything in the Home Office section). I set a plan in motion to make good use of both my planner and my time. I picked specific days for grocery shopping, laundry doing, etc. Now that I’ll be starting back to school full-time, I wanted to have one place where I could write everything down to avoid forgetting something down the road.
I’ve compiled a list of things I want to organize in the coming months. From the kitchen cabinets, to the pantry, to my photo library. Over the next 12 months, I want to get organized, and keep it that way!
One of my “be” statements this year is to be better. Do the things I know I can do. Get them done. Focus on getting better at what’s on my plate, instead of trying to juggle more. Between organizing, school, and a baby, I’ll have plenty to do.
Set goals. Set reminders. Get going.
2019 is going to be an amazing year, but only if you make it so.
